Setting new year goals, for me, is not about achieving everything. It is about having a north star for my day to day, pointing at what I actually want and cutting down the distractions.

Here are mine for this year.

**Improve the HTML parsing: Nami**

I am building a browser from scratch in Rust (or trying to), and it has been a real challenge. This year I want to keep working through HTML parsing following the spec, and polish a few things.

**3000 minutes of meditation**

I have meditated since 2020 using Headspace, and I want to deepen the practice with more of the intensive courses in the app. Mindfulness is incredible.

**20 members on Nomadz**

In 2023 I created my community for backpacking digital nomads. Plenty of people joined the Discord for free, I recorded two long classes and posted some free material. I want to give it proper attention.

**Write Librium in Go**

Librium is another project I already got off the ground: a social network to replace Skoob and Goodreads, whose usability I dislike as a reader. I want to ride the growth of the Go community and try the language out on this one. My friend Erick Tasheshi is joining me.

**25 books**

Trying to keep the pace of recent years. I set 35 in 2023 and missed by a mile.

**Reach intermediate Japanese**

I have studied Japanese for about two years and I am still quite basic. Speaking is what I lack, so that is my focus, because in 2025 I will be there.

**Jump outside Brazil**

I became a skydiver in 2023. Getting into the sport was completely unexpected, but now I want to make the most of it everywhere I go and throw myself out of planes around the world.

**USPA Category B**

Eventually growing in the sport, which means moving up a category and qualifying to do more interesting things in freefall and under canopy.

**Hit my investment target** *(secret)*

It is a secret.

**One post a month, 1/12**

Well, this is already the second, so I have started well. There is a lot I would like to write about, but I always get stuck deciding between deeply technical and more general topics, and then I never do anything. I will try to be minimalist about that too.

**Silver in LoL**

This one is a matter of honour. I am *very* bad at this game. I will make an effort to die less and climb.

**Finish the CSS badges**

An old project I abandoned, and finishing it is also a matter of honour: the Pokémon badges drawn in CSS art.

**Amazing people map**

Another travel project. As I travel I meet a lot of wonderful people worth remembering for life, and worth keeping close even at a distance. The idea is a site with a map marking each of them, so I always remember those encounters.

Let's see how many of these I get.
